Hill Observatory |
|
The actual observatory is a 12 foot square roll off roof building. The upper walls is hinged to provide extra low views of the southern horizon. The site is in the middle of one of a large cattle farm outside of Manchester, GA, and the there are very few mosquitoes with plenty of dark skies (what keeps cows happy is also good for astronomers)! Observatory sits on top of a hill cleared of trees by lightning over the years. The observatory is surrounded by 720 square feet of patio, with a barbeque grill. Dark skies, good food, and good people -- how can you beat it!? First Light! The observatory has been officially opened, and is operational. Pre-first Light Pictures -- building is complete, final preparations being made. |
